Sapphire Stone

The name "sapphire" alone refers to the gem’s blue variety. All other colors have the color name added, as in "orange sapphire" and "pink sapphire." The sapphire is called the "Stone of Destiny". Sapphires contribute to mental clarity and perception. They are believed to be capable of promoting financial rewards. It is said a necklace of sapphires will cure a sore throat.

Sapphire means repentance and true love. Sapphire is considered a mind-opening gem. It is supposed to clarify thought, aid relaxation and attract divine favor. It brings truth and good health to the wearer while preventing envy and fraud. Sapphire stone was thought to be a powerful antidote for poison as well.

Sapphire is associated with Aquarius, Virgo, Libra and Capricorn. It is the birthstone of September and has been the birthstone of April. Sapphire stone is also the symbol of Saturn (dark blue) and Venus (light blue).
