Ruby Stone

Rubies come in various shades of red, red purple and red orange. A medium toned red or red with slight blue is most desired. Once the stones looks more toward the color purple or orange then it is called a fancy sapphire. A fine piece of ruby stone is believed to possess sort of magical powers. It offered its owner the protection of living safely among enemies.

Ruby stone was believed to stop bleeding. In Burma, it could make one invincible if it was embedded in the skin. In modern times, rubies became the symbol of love and passion. Corundum is the the main ingredient of ruby, is the second-hardest material known after diamond. Only red stones are called rubies on the other hand If the color is too light, the gem is called a pink sapphire. Lab-created rubies offer good color, clarity and size, and are more affordable.
